Montana Partners (Mid Season)
Lorang Orchards, run by father and son team Carroll and Mike Lorang, have been in the Flathead cherry business for over forty years, and it shows in their operation. With two beautiful orchards nestled in Yellow Bay, a sophisticated packing house and cooling setup, and a family of pickers that come year after year (the fact that the Lorangs drive them down to the lake to swim every day after picking doesn't hurt), their dedication to farming and to great fruit shines through.
Where it shines most is in the fruit itself though--if you didn't get a chance to try their Rainiers or dark cherries in the past, don't miss them this year! The prize for Best Cherry is a much contested one, with people on the side of Rainiers or Bings or Washington or Michigan, etc... but if you ask us, Lorang Orchards is right up there with the best of em.
Washington Partners (Early/Late Season)
Remember our Rainier Cherries? Or those delicious certified organic peaches? This is the team that grew them--the Douglas Fruit Company. Our main contact is second from the right, Pete Douglas, but fruit has been in this family since the 1890s, when their great-great-grandfather planted an orchard in the Yakima Valley. Read more here! They have been great to work with, and (as you know, if you've tried their cherries or peaches) deliver a consistently premium quality fruit, meaning we can bring the best of Washington's produce back to you. It's nice to work with a family-owned business, and we look forward to working more with the Douglases in the future.
